- Remove three shield screws on all-wheel final drive. To undo cardan shaft screw connections, an assistant should sit in vehicle and block drive harness by activating footbrake.
- The colored markings, match points, on cardan shaft and on flange of rear final drive must be installed along a straight line. This neutralizes residual imbalance in components.

- Remove starter bolts and ground strap.
- Lift starter from support and rotate starter pinion toward engine oil filter.
