Before installing replacement compressor, drain oil from replacement and failed compressors (drain oil from suction port). Add same amount of oil to replacement compressor as drained from failed compressor.
Remove defective components. Add the proper amount of oil to each replacement component. Most recovery/recycling equipment will measure the amount of oil being removed. This is the amount of oil to be added back to the system, follow manufactures instructions provided with the recovery/recycling station.

- On Dakota models, support caliper assembly on upper control arm on shop towel or equivalent to absorb any hydraulic fluid loss.
- On Mini Van models, hang caliper assembly on a wire hook away from rotor.
- On all models, place a small piece of wood between piston and caliper fingers, then carefully depress brake pedal to push piston out of caliper bore. Prop brake pedal to any position below first inch of brake pedal travel to prevent brake fluid loss.
